Collection: Shivan Dragon Playmats

Our Shivan Dragon playmats cover three illustrators across thirty years: Melissa A. Benson's original 1993 Alpha artwork on two playmats, one of them a Limited Edition, Donato Giancola's Seventh Edition version, and Kota Nakatsubo's from the 30th Anniversary Celebration in Tokyo. Many are signed.

From Alpha to Standard, thirty years on

Shivan Dragon debuted in Limited Edition Alpha (1993) with art by Melissa A. Benson, and it is still legal in Standard today — one of the very few cards from Magic's first set that can say so, alongside its legality in Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Old School and Commander. Nine artists have illustrated it across 52 printings. Donato Giancola's version, printed in Seventh Edition (2001), was the card's first appearance available in foil, and Kota Nakatsubo illustrated it for the 30th Anniversary Celebration in Tokyo (2023).

What's in this collection

Two playmats use Benson's Alpha artwork: one signed, one a signed Limited Edition. The Giancola and Nakatsubo versions are offered on their own, the Giancola one signed.

Condition and photographs

Because many of these are signed, individually finished pieces, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface and the signature before buying.
