Quinton Hoover Playmats

Our Quinton Hoover playmats are all stitched Limited Editions of 250, each reproducing one of his early Magic illustrations: Wrath of God, Vesuvan Doppelganger, Darkpact and Earthbind from Limited Edition Alpha, and Emerald Dragonfly from Legends. Three of them carry an official stamp from the Hoover family.

From Magic's first set

Quinton Hoover illustrated for Magic from its very first set: Vesuvan Doppelganger debuted with his art in Limited Edition Alpha (1993). His illustrations debuted most often in Ice Age, The Dark and Legends, and his art was reprinted as recently as Time Spiral Remastered (2021).

Four of the five playmats reproduce his Limited Edition Alpha art — Wrath of God, Vesuvan Doppelganger, Darkpact and Earthbind — and the fifth, Emerald Dragonfly, comes from Legends (1994). Vesuvan Doppelganger and Darkpact are on the Reserved List.

What's in this collection

Each playmat is a Limited Edition of 250 with stitched edges, and none is signed by the artist. Hoover died in April 2013; the Darkpact, Earthbind and Emerald Dragonfly playmats carry an official stamp from the Hoover family.

Condition and photographs

Because these are limited editions, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface and, where present, the family stamp before buying.
