Mox Diamond Playmats

Our Mox Diamond playmats feature Dan Frazier's original 1998 Stronghold illustration — the art the card debuted with. Most are signed, many also sketched, including four separately sketched variants (V1 through V4), and two commemorate Eternal Weekend's Legacy Championship North America. One piece departs from the card art: “Mox Diamond Dragon,” an original Frazier design.

A Reserved List card frozen in time

Mox Diamond debuted in Stronghold (1998) with art by Dan Frazier, squarely in the era Premodern players recognize as their format's core years. As a Reserved List card, Wizards of the Coast has pledged never to reprint it — so that original 1998 illustration has had almost nowhere to go. A second artist, Volkan Baǵa, illustrated it once for From the Vault: Relics (2010). Frazier's own art returned once more for Tempest Remastered (2015) — a Magic Online-only digital set, never printed physically.

What's in this collection

Most playmats here are signed by Frazier, and several are also stitched. Five are individually sketched: four labeled V1 through V4, plus one unlabeled — each a distinct sketch rather than part of a numbered print run. Two commemorate the Legacy Championship North America held at Eternal Weekend 2019. One playmat, “Mox Diamond Dragon,” is an original Frazier design built around the Mox rather than the Stronghold card illustration.

Condition and photographs

Because most of these are signed, individually finished pieces, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface and the signature before buying.
