From Urza's Saga to today
Mark Zug's Magic illustrations date back to 1998, the same year his art for Gaea's Cradle first appeared in Urza's Saga — the same illustration used on both Gaea's Cradle playmats in this collection. He has continued illustrating for Magic ever since, most recently for The Hobbit Eternal (2026), a Universes Beyond crossover set, and has contributed to Secret Lair since 2021.
Gaea's Cradle, a Reserved List card
Gaea's Cradle is on the Reserved List, so Wizards of the Coast has pledged never to reprint it — Zug's 1998 Urza's Saga art remains its only official illustration. See our Gaea's Cradle collection for the rest of its catalog.
What's in this collection
Chalice of the Void spans five different Eternal Weekend 2023 prints: two from Eternal Weekend proper (one unsigned, one signed) and one stitched, plus two from Eternal Weekend Europe (one plain, one signed and stitched as a VIP edition). Karn, Silver Golem is signed, and a Grand Prix Charlotte 2015 print covers Noble Hierarch.
Condition and photographs
Because several of these are signed, and two are also stitched, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface and the signature before buying.
