Collection: Demonic Tutor Playmats
Our Demonic Tutor playmats are mostly Douglas Shuler's work, from his original 1993 Alpha art — as signed Limited Editions of 500, Artist Proofs of 50 and individually sketched versions — to one-of-a-kind hand-drawn pieces pairing it with Icy Manipulator and Force of Nature. Donato Giancola's Commander Masters version and Sumie Okazu's Japanese Mystical Archive art complete it. Most are signed.

From Alpha to the Commander table
Demonic Tutor debuted in Limited Edition Alpha (1993) with art by Douglas Shuler. It's legal in Commander, restricted to one copy in Vintage and Old School, and banned in Legacy. Ten artists have illustrated it in total; besides Shuler, two are represented here. Sumie Okazu painted it for Strixhaven Mystical Archive (2021), and Donato Giancola created a new version for Commander Masters (2023).
What's in this collection
Most of the catalog is Shuler's. His Alpha art comes as a signed and stitched Limited Edition of 500, also available sketched with a Triskelion, and as signed and stitched Artist Proofs in a run of 50, each individually sketched; four more signed playmats carry their own sketch, labeled Version 1 to 4. Five hand-drawn, signed originals include two "Demonic Tutor & Icy Manipulator" pieces and two versions of "Force of Nature vs Demonic Tutor" — Icy Manipulator and Force of Nature are also his Alpha illustrations.
There's also a signed reinterpretation by Shuler, and his Alpha art signed on playmats and a mouse pad. Giancola's playmat is stitched and signed, and Okazu's uses the Japanese Mystical Archive art.
Condition and photographs
Because most of these are signed, and several hand-drawn, sketched or numbered, condition and edition number matter as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface, the signature and (where relevant) the edition number before buying.
