Brom Playmats

Our Brom playmats cover four illustrations from the earliest years of his Magic career — Desolation Angel, Mogg Fanatic, Platinum Angel and Reiver Demon — spanning Tempest (1997) through Mirrodin (2003). Three of the four are signed, including a Signed & Stitched Platinum Angel, and Mogg Fanatic is also stitched, making two stitched pieces in total.

From Tempest to Mirrodin, and beyond

Brom's Magic illustrations first appeared in Weatherlight (1997), and all four cards in this collection debuted with his art within his first six years in Magic: Mogg Fanatic in Tempest (1997), Desolation Angel in Apocalypse (2001), and both Platinum Angel and Reiver Demon in Mirrodin (2003). He continued illustrating for Magic for decades after, most recently for Foundations Jumpstart (2024). Beyond Magic, Brom — full name Gerald Brom — is a well-known gothic fantasy artist, illustrator and novelist.

What's in this collection

Desolation Angel and Platinum Angel are signed by the artist; Platinum Angel is also stitched, and so is Mogg Fanatic. Reiver Demon is offered as an unsigned cloth playmat.

Condition and photographs

Because many of these are signed, and two are also stitched, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface and the signature before buying.
