Jesper Myrfors Playmats

Our Jesper Myrfors playmats cover six of his illustrations from Magic's first two years — the dual lands Tundra, Scrubland, Bayou and Tropical Island, plus Bad Moon and Elves of Deep Shadow — all signed by the artist. Most are offered stitched in Limited Editions of 500 copies, with several offered as numbered Artist Proofs in runs of just 25 or 35.

From the earliest days of Magic

Jesper Myrfors' illustrations first appeared in Limited Edition Alpha (1993), Magic's very first set — 23 of his 57 illustrations debuted there. The rest debuted across the small run of sets released in Magic's first two years: Limited Edition Beta, Arabian Nights, The Dark (where Elves of Deep Shadow first appeared with his art), Antiquities, Legends and Fallen Empires. His most recent reprint appearance is the 30th Anniversary Edition (2022).

He illustrated four of the ten original "dual lands" printed in Limited Edition Alpha — Tundra, Scrubland, Bayou and Tropical Island — and this collection includes signed playmats of all four.

Limited Editions and Artist Proofs

Most playmats here are Limited Editions of 500 signed copies. Tropical Island and Scrubland are also available as numbered Artist Proofs in runs of 25; Bad Moon and Elves of Deep Shadow in runs of 35. Some Artist Proofs are sketched in addition to being signed.

Condition and photographs

Because these are signed, limited and individually numbered pieces, condition and edition number matter as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface, the signature and the edition number before buying.
