Jeff Laubenstein Playmats

Our Jeff Laubenstein playmats span Legends-era Magic art — Dauthi Horror, Goblin Festival, Recurring Nightmare and Show and Tell, the last in eight different editions — most signed, many also stitched or hand-drawn. Two are numbered Limited Editions of 100 copies, and two are collaborations, with rk post and with Mark Tedin.

From Tempest to today

Jeff Laubenstein's Magic illustrations first appeared in Tempest (1997); his most recent published appearance is a 2026 Store Championships promo. Recurring Nightmare is a Reserved List card.

What's in this collection

Show and Tell, which debuted in Urza's Saga (1998), is the most represented card here, in eight editions — several hand-drawn, most signed and stitched. Dauthi Horror (Tempest, 1997), Goblin Festival (Urza's Destiny, 1999) and Recurring Nightmare round out the verified card illustrations, most signed and stitched. The catalog also includes several goblin- and token-themed playmats — Goblins Have More Fun, Saproling Token, Token Goblin — and a Nebraska's War 5.0 2017 Lucca edition, none tied to a specific verified printing.

Two collaborations

Shrimp and Grits is a numbered Limited Edition of 100 copies, signed jointly with rk post. Yoda & Chaos Orb, from Eternal Weekend 2018, is a hand-drawn collaboration with Mark Tedin — a crossover piece, not tied to an official printing of Chaos Orb. Tendrils, a MagicCon Atlanta 2025 edition, is also a numbered Limited Edition of 100 copies.

Condition and photographs

Because most of these are signed, and many also stitched or hand-drawn, condition matters as much as the artwork. Every listing uses real photographs of the actual playmat, so you can check the surface, the signature and (where relevant) the edition number before buying.
